– It was close to where we thought it must be, but it was nice to find it, says sports diver Kjell Eirik Henanger. In 2022, the group of friends, who dive on a voluntary basis, were at Tyin for the first time. Then they did not succeed in winning the tracked vehicle. But over the weekend, the tracked carriage that fell through the ice in 2016, carrying the artist Ellie Goulding, her photographer and others, was rediscovered. Researcher Morten Jartun at the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) writes in an e-mail to news that there may be a risk of contamination by lifting it up from the water. – During all such operations, there is a risk of oil and battery acid leaking out. That can be unfortunate in a vulnerable mountain lake like Tyin. He says that it is possible to take measures when lifting that limits risk, and companies that deal with this can have more insight into such details.
