25 April 2023 at 17:55 Around 90 people with Norwegian connections are still left in Sudan After around 30 Norwegian citizens have left Sudan, there are now around 90 people with Norwegian connections left, says Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt in a press release. It was NTB that reported this first. – Close to 30 Norwegian citizens have traveled out of Sudan on various flights with help from the foreign service, says Huitfeldt. The number of registered people in Sudan with Norwegian connections is increasing because errors are reported every day. – Several are ready to be transported out of the country as soon as possible, so we expect the number to increase. We do everything we can to reach out to Norwegian citizens who are in Sudan with information. There are still around 90 people with Norwegian connections that we know of who are still in Sudan, says the foreign minister. A new flight is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent out a new message on Tuesday to all Norwegian citizens who have registered in Sudan about a flight planned for Wednesday. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that everyone who wants to join must have a Norwegian passport or residence permit. They have to get to the airport themselves, and it is important that they consider their own safety on the road. Sudan’s government army has several checkpoints around the airport. Norway cooperates closely with both European and neighboring countries, and with the Norwegian Armed Forces, which contributes, among other things, with a Hercules aircraft.
