Appeal diving accident verdict to the Supreme Court – Greater Oslo

Oslo municipality is appealing the verdict after the diving accident at the Munch Museum. MMA-beyond Geir Kåre Nyland was paralyzed after jumping off the edge of the wharf at the museum. Nyland believes there was too little information on the jetty that it was dangerous to jump from there. The municipality has lost the case in two instances – most recently in the Court of Appeal in June. Now they choose to appeal to the Supreme Court, the Bymiljøetaten writes in an e-mail to news. “The case raises important questions of principle about the municipality’s responsibility in case of diving accidents, and how far the municipality’s responsibility for safety measures along quaysides extends,” writes the agency’s communications director Arve Rosland. They believe the Supreme Court must clarify where the limit for municipalities’ responsibility is.
