Andrea Rooth won gold during the U23 EC in Finland – news Sport – Sports news, results and broadcast schedule

– Now I feel like I’m living in a dream from which I haven’t woken up. It’s absolutely wild. Completely beyond. It feels much bigger than “little Andrea from Norway”. It’s absolutely extreme, says an overjoyed Andrea Rooth to news right after the final of the 400 meter hurdles during the U23 EC in Finland. The Norwegian great talent took the lead from the start and held off French Louise Maraval, who won silver, and Austrian Lena Pressler, who ended up in bronze. The time is 55.78, a new personal record. – I was not the favorite going into that championship here. That I manage to get it out here, it’s absolutely sick, says the great talent, who also won gold during the U20 EC two years ago. But the senior EC last year was anything but a success. Then the hurdler was dished out after a false start, and she immediately burst into tears. See the session from last year’s EC here. – This is what I was born to do Now she is in the spotlight for completely different reasons, but Rooth does not hide that last year’s experience lingered for a long time. – I must say that I was extremely lucky to get it so early in my career. It is clear that it was absolutely horrible then and there. It was a stuck that stayed with me for quite a long time. But wiping it out here now, it feels really good. The 21-year-old explains that the defeat made her want revenge, and that she immediately decided to compete as much as possible to get the experience out of her system. – My strategy was to put myself in the same situations again and again, she says. – I love to compete. Athletics means so much to me. I live and breathe for this. I feel that this is what I was born to do, continues the hurdler. Norwegian giant success The Norwegian athletes in Finland have kept up with one giant performance after another. There has probably never been a better U23 EC before, and Norwegian athletics is top notch for seniors as well. We have so many profiles, says the former hurdler, who is beside himself with excitement after Rooth’s gold. – She has had some setbacks, with a false start and a crash. It is extremely difficult to deal with as a performer. So the fact that she is able to get back up is admirable. She shows that she has an enormous competitive spirit.
