Andrea Rooth rushed to hospital – nectar to see video of the injury – news Sport – Sports news, results and broadcasting schedule

– From the time I was lying there until I arrived at the hospital, I don’t really remember much. Except that it hurt terribly. It was intense, nothing pleasant, athlete Andrea Rooth tells news. Rooth, who has been a competitor throughout his career and has also specialized in the 100 and 400 hurdles, suffered a nasty injury during a training session before Christmas. The result was three small fractures in the foot and a torn ligament. The injury occurred when Rooth landed wrongly during a long run. The pain was intense and the screams were loud. In the chaos, dad and trainer Vegard Rooth realized the seriousness, and here there was only one thing that mattered: Getting the daughter to hospital. There was only one problem. – The paradox was that they didn’t have ambulances in Bærum because there were so many vorspiel for Christmas parties. Even with me carrying you out on a stretcher and getting you into my car, he recalled. FOCUSED: Andrea Rooth is injured, but does not give up. Now she is starting the training. Photo: Petter Larsson / news After consulting with Olympiatoppen and calling 113, it was off to Aker hospital. – The drive there was no fun. It was terrible to hear how much pain she was in, while I tried to focus on the road and get there as quickly as possible. With hazard warning lights on and everything. Andrea Rooth 21 years old, born 6 March 2002. Track and field athlete, Lambertseter Sports Association. Specializes in 100 and 400 meter hurdles. Has been involved in multi-sport throughout his career, but now put most of the exercises aside. Eleven individual NM golds, outdoors and indoors. U20 European Championship winner in the 400 meter hurdles from 2021. Gold in the U23 European Championship in the same exercise from 2023. Refuses to see the video Andrea Rooth had a “blackout” during the drive and only came to after being given painkillers at the hospital. There it was proven that three bone fragments in the foot had come loose. Behind the large swellings in the foot, there was also a ligament that had to be operated on. There is a video of the blink of an eye when the injury occurred. She refuses to look at it herself and she does not want to share it with news either. For Rooth, it is important to move on from the terrible blink of an eye. – I think that watching that video again and again just put a strain on me. It’s not a nice video, to put it that way, she says and continues: – If I see it, I reinforce the memory more. I will definitely go back and do that exercise again, then I don’t need to worry about it anymore. – Glad it’s happening now There’s never a good time for an injury, and the timing is far from ideal for Rooth either. Before the injury, she felt enormously strong, and had put in a solid dose of training before an eventful season. In the autumn, she was selected for Norway’s EC team, a group the athletics association has been hoping for during the championships in Rome in June. For the Olympics in Paris, she is currently in the ranking for the 400 meter hurdles, she trained to a new personal record (55.74) during the NM in August last year. – I don’t want to think how good it could be, she says. USED ELEMENT: Andrea Rooth as I am used to seeing her. Photo: Fredrik Varfjell / news But Rooth has already started to look ahead. She is busy learning from the injury, knowing what went wrong and why it happened that way. She will come back stronger. – Your ability to be positive is unique. It has been a pleasure to follow you since you were born. And it is also in this phase here, praises Vegard Rooth, before the daughter throws in an “oh my god” and rolls her eyes a little. No more daddy talk now. – I am young, and I am happy that it is happening now. I’m not in my last year, and I have journalists asking “when are you going to quit?”. I’m actually in a favorable position, she says, and with that actually confirms my father’s thoughts about a positive, forward-thinking woman. FATHER AND DAUGHTER: Dad Vegard Rooth is also Andrea’s trainer. Photo: Petter Larsson / news Puts the multi-sport game on the shelf When news meets her, she walks with a huge boot on her foot. Both father and daughter Rooth praise the help they have received from the Olympiatoppen, and she is now back in training. The exercises have certainly changed a bit, and more consistent, patient work is needed back towards top form. Between the lines, the great talent confirms that the plan for the season has not changed, but she cannot focus on the future now. Nevertheless, the damage has changed somewhat. The multi-talented fighter puts most of the exercises on the shelf in practice. Now there is full focus on the 100 and 400 meter hurdles. – Now I’m betting on it. I love multi-sport and it’s fantastically good training, but with that foot it will take a long time before I can take a height or length test again. If I had been the best at it, it would have been different. But I’m not. I don’t want to risk this again, she says determinedly.
