– The one wolf was felled in Polar Park at midnight, on the night of Sunday. SNO and the park’s staff are searching for the other with undiminished strength. Polar Park chairman Ragnar Norum reports this in a press release. He says that if anyone observes wolves in the areas, they must notify the National Nature Inspectorate (SNO) via local predator contacts. It was on Tuesday that two wolves got out of the outermost fences of the park. The day before, a total of five had got out of their enclosure inside the zoo. It is one of these seven wolves that has been shot. Photo: POLAR PARK Since then, Polar Park has searched for the wolves together with the National Nature Inspectorate (SNO). On Wednesday, the Norwegian Environment Agency gave permission to SNO to catch or kill the escaped wolves. The same evening, the escaped wolves were observed 500 meters from the park. The park’s staff and SNO have used drones, wildlife cameras and helicopters in their efforts to search for the wolves. On Friday, one of the wolves was in the zoo’s outer fence. But the joy was short-lived. It pulled out, and both wolves have since been at large. Published 06.10.2024, at 10.08 Updated 06.10.2024, at 10.21
