– An Easter miracle – news Innlandet – Local news, TV and radio

“This will be a story we can’t quite believe is real.” This is how Alexander Lauvhaug Styve’s post on the Facebook page “Rømlingen” begins. “Leo has now been miraculously found,” he writes. At 3pm on Monday, he and the owner, father-in-law Ole Kristian Fjelltun, noticed that the 14-year-old Gordon Setter had escaped from the home at Fjelltun in Øystre Slidre. The search operation started immediately together with volunteers in the village. Didn’t think he would survive The family searched all evening. Many in the village participated, and several called for Leo on Facebook – We probably had a slight suspicion that he wasn’t going to survive, says Fjelltun. When it got dark they ended the search for the evening. Just before they were to go out to look again the next day, the phone rang. A lady who lives in the village called. She had good news. – She called and said that they had found our friend. That was a relief. There was a good atmosphere here at home, says Fjelltun. DOWN IN THE SNOW: – He was happy, but he was a little disoriented right away, says owner Fjelltun. Photo: private Buster became Easter’s hero Kristin Evensen was the lady who called. Together with her own Gordon setter, Buster, she assisted for several hours in the search for Leo. And it was Buster who eventually became the Easter hero for the Fjelltun family. HERO: Buster became the hero of Easter when he snuck up on Leo. As thanks for his efforts, he was given a good dinner in front of the fireplace when he got home. Photo: Privat Evensen was on his way back to the car when Buster showed a slightly peculiar behaviour. – He went up on his hind legs. He is a big dog at 30 kilos, so he became as tall as me. Then I thought “what on earth are you trying to tell me now?”. Buster took Evensen with him to a snow pile. – There was a rather sharp bark. He bristled against it. He almost bared his teeth and growled at me. He has never done that before. Then she saw what the dog was trying to tell her. It was Leo who was lying over a meter down in a small hole under a birch tree in the snow. HAD TO DIG: Kristin Evensen immediately realized that it was Leo who was lying in the hole in the snow. Photo: private The old dog was somewhat disoriented after being dug out of the small hole. – That was amazing. It was big. He was shaking a little and walking a little shaggy at first. But it was joy. Thanks for the effort – It was a special place to find him. He had probably been there overnight, but luckily it ended well. It’s an Easter miracle, laughs Fjelltun. DISORIENTED: Leo was shaking and stiff in the body. But the 14-year-old dog recovered quickly. Photo: PRIVAT He wants to thank Evensen and Buster, who saved Easter. – She made a formidable effort. I would also like to give a big thank you to everyone who has contributed to the search for the dog. There are an incredible number of people who have stood up and made an effort, he says. YOUR WORST FEAR: It took a day before Leo was found. Now Easter is over for the Fjelltun family, who were afraid the dog wouldn’t make it. Photo: private
