A man in his 30s has been charged with possessing child abuse material. The man was arrested in Bergen on Tuesday and will be detained for four weeks. – He was arrested following a tip from Kripos, on the basis of a file-sharing network, says prosecutor Linn Skaar Sætre to news. According to what news knows, the man will be an after-school employee at one of the schools in the city. – I can confirm that he is connected to a school in Bergen, says Sætre. According to the detention order, the man must have explained that he “stumbled across” the material and that he has not looked at material by children under the age of 16 on purpose. – We have asked for four weeks’ detention due to the risk of evidence being destroyed, says Skaar. The charge is one of several cases in recent years where employees of schools or kindergartens in Bergen have been charged, prosecuted or sentenced for various forms of abuse. In February this year, a kindergarten employee was sentenced to more than eight years in prison for raping three children at the kindergarten in Bergen. At the end of 2022, an after-school employee in Bergen was sentenced to 8 years in prison for sexually assaulting eight girls.
