Ambulance helicopter in Tromsø grounded due to strike – news Troms and Finnmark

– As of now, preparedness is weakened, but not acutely, as we see it, says communications adviser in the Air Ambulance Service HF, Elin Åsbakk Lind to news. On Friday, the service issued a press release in which they warn that the base in Tromsø will be affected by the strike. – On March 17 at 1 p.m., base Tromsø will be affected because a rescuer who was supposed to be on duty there has gone on strike. When a rescuer on duty is taken out on strike, the helicopter is taken out of standby. This is because the rescuer has duties to assist the pilot with regard to flight safety. In addition to their own duties, the rescuer must also assist the doctor, the press release states. At the same time, preparedness has been set to green, which means that measures will be put in place quickly. – It is a state of preparedness that we set up to be able to take quick measures. Set up a staff to keep an extra close eye on what is happening now when the strike starts to go beyond preparedness. We report up to our owners, if there start to be a lot of bases that go off standby, we report it up. – How concerned should the citizens be now? – The fact that a base goes out of order happens from time to time. It could be something technical, for example. In Tromsø, we have other resources that we can deploy, including an ambulance plane and a rescue helicopter, if there is a danger to life and health. As of now, preparedness is weakened, but not acutely, as we see it. On Monday morning, four further bases will also be affected, Evenes/Harstad, Brønnøysund, Ålesund and Lørenskog. – Then it is more critical, without it being us who assess whether there is a danger to life and health. That is what the Norwegian Health Authority does.
