23 October 2023 at 14:42 Allegation for 17 years in prison in the Tengs case State prosecutor Nina Grande filed a claim in the Gulating Court of Appeal on Monday that Johny Vassbakk should be sentenced to 17 years in prison for the murder of Birgitte Tengs. This is the same as what Vassbakk was sentenced to in Haugaland and Sunnhordland District Court in February. In the sentencing proposal, Grande referred to another murder case which she believes provides a good guide to the level of punishment. This applies to the Sjøvegan case, where a man was sentenced to 17 years in prison in 2018 for the rape and murder of Marie-Louise Bendiktsen in 1998. Nina Grande found that Birgitte was subjected to massive violence, and that she was conscious at the start of the attack. – The murder was sexually motivated. Birgitte was unconscious when the assault happened, and we believe the murder was carried out under aggravating circumstances, said Grande.
