He does so shortly after opponent Pekka Haavisto stated “this looks like a defeat”. Just before 8 p.m., almost 92 percent of the votes had been counted. Stubb has 51.4 percent of the votes so far, compared to 48.6 for Haavisto. Stubb is after everything and thus announces Finland’s new president. Also according to national broadcaster Yle’s forecast, Stubb has walked away with the victory. Stubb and Haavisto commented on Yle’s forecast as soon as it was fresh at Helsinki City Hall. – Come on Alexander, congratulations to Finland’s 13th president, Haavisto immediately shook hands with Stubb when the forecast came. – Good luck with your work, concluded Haavisto. According to the forecast, Stubb would get 51.4 percentage points of the vote, Haavisto 48.6.
