Only a good Allan McGregor in goal kept Rangers in the game before the break, and early in the second half Mo Salah doubled the lead from the penalty spot after Luis Diaz was brought down. Liverpool could have won more, but Rangers were very close to reducing the tie. An acrobatic save on the line by Kostas Tsimikas and a great save by Alisson Becker prevented that.
