The House of Representatives agrees on financing the US state apparatus until September 30. The proposal goes on to the Senate. The proposal was adopted with 217 votes against 213, in a vote in which most voted with their party. The Senate must adopt the proposal by midnight Friday to avoid a shutdown. In the Senate, however, the proposal needs support from several Democrats, and it is unclear whether it will be adopted. “It’s time to decide for Democrats in the Senate: Vote to keep the state apparatus going, or be responsible for shutting it down,” said speaker Mike Johnson in the House of Representatives.
