Tommy Karlsen Sandum was found dead in his home in Oslo on Tuesday, news is informed. He lived to be 48 years old. The cause of death is currently unknown. The family confirms the death to news. – We are devastated. Tommy was inalienable to us. Now we ask for peace in the grief, writes his brother Raymond Karlstad in an e-mail. The actor was best known for his roles as Proffen in the films about “Pelle and Proffen” in the 90s and as Arne in the TV series “Lilyhammer”, which ran from 2012 to 2014. Karlsen was also among the country’s most used voice actors in the last 20 years . Among other things, he has played the Norwegian voice for Donald Duck and Shrek. He has also had a number of supporting roles in series such as “The third eye” and “Hotel Cæsar” and in films such as “Villmenn” and “Ingenting å le af”, in addition to reading several audio books. Tommy was a guy who was easy to like, he says. It was a shock to him to receive the news of death. – You should not die when you are 48 years old. There was no one who had experienced what we experienced in the 90s in the same way as us in Norway, he says. Bakke is happy that he could stand in the spotlight together with Karlsen. – I am eternally grateful that there were two of us. The fact that we were able to support and help each other through it was absolutely invaluable to us coming out of that experience as well as we did, he says. The extremely popular films about Pelle and Proffen, “Døden på Oslo S” (1990), “Giftige Løgner” (1992) and “De blå ulvene” (1993), were based on the books by Ingvar Ambjørnsen and created wild conditions in the cities where the protagonists went on launch tour to. In 1990, twice as many people saw “Death in Oslo S” as “Home Alone”.
