Accused of having poisoned his wife so that she died – news Trøndelag

A woman was found dead in Ørland on 29 June. The man will be detained for two weeks, with a letter and a restraining order. Police believe he must have poisoned her. – We do not wish to say what substance has been detected as of now. The charges are based on the fact that he most likely poisoned the deceased, says police attorney Ole Andreas Aftret to news. Lethal dose The deceased woman in her 70s was autopsied on Tuesday. Police attorney Aftret informs news that a fatal dose of a poison was found in the woman’s blood and urine. Out of consideration for the investigation, the police will not say what substance is involved. The investigation has so far not provided an answer to how the woman ingested the drug. – What has been demonstrated is a high dose of the substance in question. Emergency admission In February, the woman was urgently admitted to St. Olav’s hospital with suspicion of poisoning. It turned out to be the same type of substance that is now in question. When the woman was rushed to hospital and was given the drug in question, she wondered if someone wanted to kill her, says Aftret. But the police chose not to proceed with the case because there were no other circumstances that pointed to a criminal relationship. Denies criminal liability The accused is unaware that the substance may have been in the house The information that the death was probably caused by poison surprises the accused, says defense attorney Jon Reidar Aae to news. – He is completely uncomprehending about it and thinks it seems completely unreal that something like that should have happened. Aae said that the accused found his wife asleep in the chair in the living room when the man came home. He has said that he put her on the floor and started cardiopulmonary resuscitation while he called AMK. Defender Jon Reidar Aae. Photo: Kari Sørbø / news
