Sickness absence leads to an extra NOK 20.7 billion in expenses in this year’s state budget. – I am very concerned about the development. Folketrygden is a crucial part of our common welfare. We have to slow down the increase in expenses, says Brenna. Sickness absence was 7.1 per cent in the second quarter of this year, according to figures from Statistics Norway. It is the highest level in 15 years. According to E24, the payment of sickness benefit increases by NOK 8.2 billion, to a total of NOK 64.2 billion. Expenditures for employment verification money and disability benefits also increase by NOK 5.9 and 6.6 billion respectively.
