A young man died after a crushing accident in a ski lift in Kjerringåsen Alpinsenter in Sarpsborg on Friday afternoon. The accident happened when the man was carrying out maintenance on the ski lift. – All emergency services and air ambulance rushed to the scene. The person was confirmed dead after a short time, says police operations manager Trond Lorentzen to news. The police were notified of the incident shortly before 5 p.m. The next of kin have been informed of the accident. The National Accident Investigation Board is on its way to the scene to assist the police in the further investigation. Kjerringåsen Alpinsenter is located in Sarpsborg municipality, and is Østfold’s largest ski centre. Crisis team assists The municipality’s crisis team has been contacted, and is on its way to the scene, the mayor of Sarpsborg Magnus Arnesen tells news just before 19:00. The alpine center is closed on Friday. There were other employees at work when the crushing accident took place. – They are looked after and followed up, says operations manager Trond Lorentzen. According to the operations manager, it is uncertain whether there were any witnesses to the accident. Kjerringåsen Alpinsenter is Østfold’s largest alpine resort with three lifts and five slopes.
