– A terrible decision to have to make – news Sport – Sports news, results and broadcast schedule

The news has received a lot of attention on the other side of the border. Tilda Johansson won the IBU Cup, which is the level below the World Cup, last season and is a great future hope for Swedish biathlon. This season, however, she has shone with her absence in the biathlon arena. Now comes the explanation. – The last year has been extremely taxing, physically, but most of all mentally. I have struggled with the motivation, the will and the joy of sport, says Johansson in a post on Instagram. “Breaks my heart” As a consequence of this, she retires from the sport indefinitely. Because right now she can’t bear to be a biathlete anymore. – It breaks my heart, but right now this industry is not the best for me, says Johansson. Photo: BILDBYRÅN She says that she loves biathlon and that she looks up to everyone who copes with the tough everyday life the sport can sometimes bring. – I have given it a try, but I have come to the conclusion that it is best to act and take a break from biathlon for an indefinite period. I want to find myself back. What happens in the future remains to be seen, but now I will focus on myself and make sure that I become the best version of myself, writes the talent. In the IBU Cup, she out-competed, among others, the Norwegian hopefuls Maren Kirkeeide and Marthe Kråkstad Johansen for the overall victory. Knotten considered putting up Karoline Knotten hopes that Johansson will one day find back the joy that sport has given her in the past. The Norwegian biathlon star has been through difficult times herself and has considered giving up. – But there was a weak moment in a period where I didn’t quite get it and things were heavy. I am very happy that I stood in it. I have taken steps and I have no doubts anymore. – It can turn around very quickly. That is what is a shame, if you stop because you lose motivation for a period, says Knotten. NORWEGIAN STAR: Karoline Knotten has impressed this season with a podium place in Östersund and 7th place overall in the World Cup. She emphasizes that a life in biathlon does not have to be for everyone, and that the Swede must find his way in life. – Talent is one thing, but you have to have fun with it. If you don’t enjoy yourself, you won’t perform either. She has done it before, winning the IBU Cup last year. So she certainly has potential, but so do many. She has to want it and do the job too, says Knotten. – She is brave Johansson also receives a lot of support in Sweden. The teammates praise the 24-year-old for daring to make that choice. – I think it is incredibly brave and mature of her. Elite sport is tough and a lifestyle that does not suit everyone and that demands a lot from you. If you can’t feel joy and motivation, it’s probably best to take a break. But I hope she finds herself back and the joy of the sport, so she comes back, says Mona Brorsson to news. She has known Johansson for a long time and competed against her a number of times in the IBU Cup. Linn Persson shares her opinion. – It is a terrible decision to have to make. She is brave to do so. I don’t know if I would have dared to do that myself. But health comes first and the most important thing is that she is well, she says to Aftonbladet.
