Seven sheep were found injured on Friday at Mysusæter near Otta in Gudbrandsdalen. The injuries are said to have been caused by a dog. The dog must have been loose and got into a fenced area, the police in Innlandet say. Six sheep were slaughtered on the spot, while one had already died. That’s what farmer Roy Frode Bjørnvolden, who owns the sheep, says. – A bad view The farmer was told on Friday that a dog allegedly attacked his sheep in a fenced area at Mysusæter near Otta. It was a passerby who saw the dog by one of the sheep. – It was a bad view. Six of them had been chased into a fence with bite wounds in their mouths and throats, and their ears were missing. They were alive, while one was fortunately dead. The rest was lying around, says Bjørnvolden. The sheep were quickly killed. We have a picture of a dog standing over a lamb, which we are searching for now, he says. – The police have taken over the case and they will then carry out an autopsy to be 100 per cent sure that it is a dog. Then the police will decide what happens, he says. Reported The police have found out who owns the dog and have been in contact with the person concerned. This is according to Haagen Løvseth, operations manager in the Innlandet police district. The dog owner will be reported for the incident. It is not yet clear what the owner is being reported for, says Løvseth. – The owner is reported, then you have to see what the result will be over time. A police lawyer has decided that the dog will be taken into custody indefinitely. – It is transported to a kennel.
