The Israeli National Assembly has voted in favor of a resolution rejecting the establishment of a Palestinian state. The text of the resolution was adopted on Wednesday evening with 68 to 9 votes, writes Haaretz. – The establishment of a Palestinian state in the heart of Israel will constitute an existential threat to the state of Israel and its citizens, it says. Furthermore, it emerges that a Palestinian state will make the Israeli-Palestinian conflict eternal and destabilize the region. It was opposition politician Gideon Saar who brought forward the resolution. He leads the centre-right party New Hope. One of those who voted for the resolution is Benny Gantz. Photo: Reuters Sharp criticism So far, 145 out of 193 UN member states have recognized Palestine as an independent state. Norway announced this in May. On Wednesday, Benjamin Netanyahu’s press manager took to the podium and said that Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide was not welcome in Israel. – Norway, we have enough Jew-haters locally in Hamas in Gaza, we don’t need to import support players from abroad, said David Mencer.
