A search operation has been launched for a German man in his 40s who did not return from a skiing trip as planned on Thursday. The man went out in light hiking clothes from Fefor Høifjellshotell in Nord-Fron at 2 p.m., the police in Innlandet say. A rescue helicopter and an air ambulance are on their way to participate in the search. An avalanche dog will also be included in the search. Operations manager Kristian Bjaanes in the Innlandet police district tells NTB that volunteer crews from Norwegian People’s Aid, Norwegian rescue dogs and the Red Cross are also participating in the search operation. – Good visibility, little wind and around six degrees Celsius in the area, says Bjaanes. The area is not far from Jotunheimen, where significant avalanche danger has been reported on Thursday.
