25 February 2024 at 07:34 A majority in the Storting protects the dormant law on banning cinemas on Sundays The Liberals, the Conservatives and the FRP have proposed allowing cinema screenings before 1pm on Sundays. But a united left says no. The Storting majority will protect the law on cinema refusal before 1pm on Sundays, writes Aftenposten. Minister for Children and Families Kjersti Toppe (Sp) agrees. – The rules help make these days different from the rest of the week. I see no reason to liberalize the cinema regulations, she writes in an email to Aftenposten. In today’s Act on Public Holidays and Bank Holiday Peace it is stated: “On public holidays between 06 and at 13, it is not permitted to arrange or hold public events or performances, sports competitions and sports conventions.” But cinemas all over the country are already showing films in the middle of church time, and no one is doing anything about it.
