5 January 2024 at 09:00 A dam that has frozen stops the water in the Figgjo River In the Figgjo River at Kongeparken in Gjesdal municipality, a dam has frozen so that the water in the river was blocked. The water level on top of the dam began to rise sharply, and there was a fear that large quantities of water would suddenly come in the narrower river course down towards Figgjo. Excavators began work to move the water past the dam at 9am, and it now looks like the situation is under control, says operations manager in the police in the south-west, Victor Fenne-Jensen. One field on the E39 is closed, because the excavator needs an area of the roadway.
