Hotel Ullensvang is laying off around 40 people as a direct consequence of the flume damage the hotel has suffered. Hardanger Folkeblad reports. Britt Marie Grieg is one of the drivers at Hotel Ullensvang. She told news that none of the employees have lost their jobs. The hotel will return to normal operation. – It is incredibly boring to have to tell so many employees that their jobs will not be needed for a while, says Grieg to news. Some are laid off full-time and others part-time. Downsizing was already underway, as the hotel will close for renovations from 8 December. Now they plan to open on 7 March 2025. The work on the water damage takes a long time. Grieg says that they have been met with understanding from the guests. Several of the guests have been booked into other hotels. – We have to make the best of the situation, says Grieg.
