Then we knew there were bullets flying through the air. But we weren’t sure he was okay. It was scary, says Renae. She believes that Trump has become more popular as a result of the assassination. – People see him as a warrior who does not give up, says Renae. She grabbed Gino and pushed him under the bleachers. She lay on top of him and talked to him the whole way to check that he was doing well, she says. He is a voice for the people, stands up for America and wants the best for us, says Renae. – We were still Democrats when we first saw him, but voted for him in 2016, she adds. It causes problems for him sometimes, but I love that he is outspoken, says Renae. Historic assassination attempt The assassination attempt against Trump received a lot of attention. It is considered one of the most important turning points in this election campaign. Donald Trump was escorted off stage at a campaign event in Pennsylvania on Saturday. He was hit in the ear and started bleeding. One audience member was killed and two others were injured. In total, there were tens of thousands of spectators, including Billow and his son Gino. The perpetrator was 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was shot dead. His motive remains unclear. The Secret Service, the bodyguard service that is supposed to protect current and former presidents, received a lot of criticism for their failure to prevent the assassination.
