North Korea has test-fired a missile which, according to Japan, may be of a new type and which flew further than any other missile North Korea has tested before. North Korea’s pro-regime news agency sent out images purporting to show the rocket being launched. It involved the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile, at a sharp angle, from an area near the capital Pyongyang, at 7.10am on Thursday morning, according to information from South Korea’s military leadership. The Japanese government later stated that the rocket fell into the sea at 8.37am on Thursday morning, but without any information on the exact impact site. (NTB)
