Steward representatives at St. Olav’s hospital believe the board of Helse Midt-Norge must throw out – news Trøndelag – Local news, TV and radio

Last week, the National Audit Office came out with a devastating report on the introduction of the Health Platform at St. Olav’s hospital and in Trondheim municipality. They believe that the introduction of the record system has threatened patient safety and reduced the efficiency of patient care. Now union representatives at St. Olavs are advocating that the board of Helse Midt-Norge should be thrown out. – The report should have consequences, so that we can restore trust in the region. This is what Vivi Bakkeheim, chief union representative in the Association of Medical Practitioners at St. Olavs, tells news. It was Adresseavisen that mentioned the case first. There, they ask him to appoint a new board in the Health Corporation. – The National Audit Office has pointed out a lack of competence on the part of decision-makers, a lack of emphasis on patient safety and poor coordination by the boards, says Bakkeheim. – With this as a background, it will be natural to look at the composition of the highest responsible board in the region. So that in the future we are guaranteed good competence to make the choices and priorities that are necessary. Group trustee for the Academics in Helse Midt-Norge’s board, Lindy Jarosh-von Schweder, says several of their members think the same. – There are many of our members who are advocating for changes to the board of Helse Midt, or expect changes according to the National Audit Office’s report. – However, it is the Ministry of Health and Care that decides whether the current board has the right trust and competence, she says. It is the National Audit Office’s most serious criticism, and we rarely use it, Auditor General Karl Eirik Schjøtt-Pedersen. – Only when we find serious weaknesses, errors and shortcomings that could have very large consequences for individuals or society. The National Audit Office has investigated the case together with the municipal audit office in Trondheim. – We have made several disturbing findings related to patient safety in the introduction of the Health Platform, says director of Trondheim municipal audit, Per Olav Nilsen. – The system is perceived as unintuitive, complex and time-consuming to use, and employees spend a lot of time looking for information. The health platform is currently in operation in 28 municipalities and in seven hospitals, and two new hospitals and six municipalities are soon due. Over 33,000 users work in the system every day. I relate to the owner, and that is the Ministry of Health and Care. Chairman of Helse Midt-Norge, Odd-Inge Mjøen, says it is the Ministry of Health and Care that must make decisions about the board. Would you like to evaluate your position? – It is not up to me to assess. There is an owner, the Ministry of Health and Care, who has appointed me, and they can decide on that, he said. On Monday, he had the same comment when news contacted him again. Published 28.10.2024, at 15.23 Updated 28.10.2024, at 15.41
