The municipal director in Haugesund has proposed to close the Brakahaug, Saltveit and Røvær schools from the 2025/26 school year. This has now been voted on in the committee for upbringing in the municipality. The plans to close the three schools are scrapped. The politicians sitting in the meeting at the Town Hall were met by protesters on their way in. Pupil: – I cried Third-grader Ludvig Ferkingstad at Brakahaug school was very sad when he heard the plans to close the school he attends: – I cried. I’m here to save my school. It can be shut down, and that is not good, he says. Ludvig was one of those who watched the meeting in the town hall. He was not alone, because several protesters wanted to hear what the politicians decided. “Don’t take our school” was one of the slogans that was repeated both before and during the meeting in Haugesund town hall.
