Stavanger municipality has issued a boil warning – Latest news – news

The break in a main water line at Stokka in Stavanger on Monday evening has meant that contaminated water may have penetrated the mains. The municipality has sent out notices to over 50,000 people to boil their water, writes Stavanger Aftenblad. Boil warning means that water to be taken into the mouth must be boiled first. When the water can be declared healthy is uncertain. – We have to discuss whether it makes sense to take water samples already on Tuesday or whether we have to wait. In any case, the water samples must be cultured, and it can easily take a day before we get a response to the samples, says Jarle Furre, head of water, sewage and waste disposal in Stavanger municipality. The areas that should boil water for drinking are Madla, Stokka, Tasta, Vardeneset, Kvernevik, Sunde and Byhaugen, reports Stavanger municipality on its website. (news/NTB)
