A total of eight cars were involved in two chain collisions on the E18 in the direction of Oslo. The first accident happened at Kjellstad in Lier at a quarter past six, and just minutes later another chain collision occurred at the on-ramp at Brakerøya. The police report that it has now been cleared at Brakerøya, and that they are not aware of any other cause than negligent driving by those who drove into the car in front of them. – There was no report of slippery road surfaces, so the investigation will paint a clearer picture of the cause, says police operations manager Eskil Hagen Olsen. So far, no serious injuries have been reported. – There is a person who is in a bit of pain, and that person is taken care of by paramedics, says Olsen. There were long queues on the E18, and this also spread to other roads in the Drammen area. The police therefore recommended that people who have the opportunity to choose alternative routes towards Oslo during the morning rush hour. – Based on experience, it will take some time before the traffic goes as normal again, says Olsen. There are no reports of slippery road surfaces in the area. Photo: Tomm-Espen Kroken / news Published 14.10.2024, at 07.38 Updated 14.10.2024, at 07.57
