South Korean Han Kang is awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. This is stated by Mats Malm during the award ceremony on Thursday. Kang receives the prize for his “intense poetic prose, which confronts the trauma of history and reveals human vulnerability”. Kang is the first South Korean author to receive the award. The 53-year-old is best known for the book “The Vegetarian” from 2016.
