Chelsea star Cole Palmer was awarded the English Football Association (FA) Player of the Season award on Tuesday night. The price applies to the 2023/2024 season. In that period, the 22-year-old made his debut in the English national football team, before he also took part in the EC. Palmer also scored England’s only goal in the final, which they lost 1–2 to Spain. Last season he recorded 22 goals and 11 assists in the Premier League, in what was his first season at Chelsea. This season too, Palmer has gotten off to a flying start. After seven games, he has six goals and five assists. The highlight of the season so far came on 28 September, when he scored four first-half goals in Chelsea’s 4–2 win over Brighton. No player in the history of the Premier League has managed it before him. Palmer is the first Chelsea player to be named England Player of the Season since Ashley Cole in 2010. For the past two seasons, Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka has won the award. (NTB)
