Ukrainian Kateryna Kozhoma was killed in Bergen, at the Magic Hotel, on 4 July 2023. Now the man with whom she had children has been sentenced to 17 years in prison, for killing her with a knife. In addition, the man is sentenced to pay NOK 1.2 million in compensation to their common child. A unanimous Hordaland district court thus agreed with prosecutor Sigurd Åsnes Granli’s claim of 17 years in prison for threats and planned murder. Defense attorney Per-Erik Gåskjenn says the man is disappointed by the verdict, and that they will now consider whether to appeal to the Court of Appeal. – He has maintained that the murder was not planned and that it happened out of emotion. He had hoped to be believed, says Gåskjenn to news.
