FHI: The flu season this year may be stronger than last year

– There is a slightly greater probability that we may have a strong flu season this coming winter than last season, says director of FHI Guri Rørtveit. The Norwegian Institute of Public Health (FHI) encourages people to get vaccinated ahead of this year’s flu season. – More people should take the flu, corona and pneumococcal vaccine so that they protect themselves against serious illness and death, says Rørtveit in a press release. Everyone over 65, residents of care homes and nursing homes are particularly recommended to take the flu and corona vaccine. – Many people with an increased risk of serious illness were unvaccinated last season. The decline is particularly evident among younger people in the risk groups. This worries us, says Rørtveit People with chronic diseases should also take the vaccines. The same groups should take the pneumococcal vaccine every 6 years, FHI recommends. (NTB)
