Country artist Kris Kristofferson (88) has died – news Urix – Foreign news and documentaries

– It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that our husband, father and grandfather, Kris Kristofferson, died peacefully on Saturday 28 September. We are all so blessed for our time with him. Thank you for loving him all these years. “When you see a rainbow, you know he’s smiling down on us all,” the family said in a statement. Kristofferson had his breakthrough as a singer and songwriter already in the 1970s. He has recorded 30 albums and is known for songs such as ‘Me And Bobby McGee’, which was also recorded by Janis Joplin – as well as ‘Help Me Make Trough the Night’ and ‘Sunday Morning Coming Down’. He has also appeared in over 70 films and in 1977 received a Golden Globe for best acting performance for his role in “A Star Is Born”, where he played opposite Barbra Streisand. In January 2021, the agency Morris Higham Management announced that Kristofferson would retire and that his son John would take over the family’s businesses and future projects. Kristofferson leaves behind eight children. Clint Higham, head of Morris Higham Management, said Kristofferson is an “artist’s artist”. “If there was a Mount Rushmore for songwriters, Kris would be on it,” Higham said, referring to the famous US presidential monument.
