An apartment building in the center of Beirut has been hit in an Israeli air strike, eyewitnesses say. A security source says two people have been killed. Eyewitnesses told Reuters that early Monday night they heard a loud bang and saw smoke rising from a hole in the building’s top floor, and that it appears the attack was very targeted. Ambulances were sent to the scene. Shortly afterwards, a security source told the AFP news agency that two people had died in the attack. The security source says that it was an Israeli drone attack targeting an apartment belonging to two members of the Lebanese Islamist group Jamaa Islamiya. Israel had not commented on the attack early Monday night. The building is located in Kola in the southwestern part of downtown Beirut.
