At the end of August, three 18-year-olds, two women and a man, were arrested in Halden in what the police refer to as a serious drug case. At the address where the three were arrested, the police seized over 20 kilograms of hash and a few kilograms of powder, according to news’s information. The powder that was seized is believed to be amphetamine, according to what news learns. Police prosecutor Anders Kristoffer Johansen does not want to go into more detail about the seizure that has been made. – Analyzes of powder have not arrived either, so we cannot confirm what parts of the seizure are, writes Johansen in an e-mail. He also points out that the accused have also not been confronted with this information in questioning. Hunting for possible masterminds The 18-year-olds have been charged with serious drug offences. They are in custody with a letter and visiting ban. All three deny criminal guilt, the defense told news. The police do not want to say how many people have been charged or suspected in the case. At the same time, they do not rule out the possibility of more arrests. – Uncovering possible culprits is of course part of what is being investigated, writes police attorney Johansen. The teenagers charged in the case have been remanded in custody for four weeks with a letter and visiting ban. Although she is of legal age, she is very young. Holm-Olsen describes the flow of information from the police as non-existent. – The only thing we get is the charge. Everything else is secret. The way the police operate means that my client has no real opportunity to explain himself. As a defense attorney, I also have no opportunity to guide her. Holm-Olsen tells news that he will ask the court to assess whether the police’s secrecy of the case’s documents is proportionate. Lawyer Ole Richard Holm-Olsen. According to Holm-Olsen, his client has had the opportunity to have one such conversation during a period of four weeks. – We take the accused into account, and make arrangements as far as possible, writes police attorney Johansen. He also emphasizes that Holm-Olsen, as a defense attorney, has the opportunity to receive the case’s documents – in return for him signing a non-disclosure agreement. This means that he cannot discuss the content of the case with anyone. Not even with the 18-year-old woman he represents. – The police have a duty and legal right to protect the investigation. This is not an obstacle to the accused being able to explain themselves, writes the police attorney. Found at the home of the accused In questioning, the 18-year-old man who is accused in the case explained that he lives at the address where the drugs were seized. This is revealed in a ruling from Søndre Østfold district court. – The police have also seized the accused’s phone, and efforts are being made to secure and review this, the ruling states.
