The police have cordoned off a large area in the center of Malmö after an explosion on the night of Saturday. There is said to be damage to an apartment building, but no one is said to have been physically injured, writes SVT. One person has been arrested. The police believe it may have been one or two hand grenades that detonated, reports Sweden’s radio. The police sent out an important message to residents in the area, asking people to stay indoors and avoid standing near windows. The emergency services were called after the explosion and several witnesses saw a mysterious car which just before the explosion drove quickly away from the scene, according to Sydsvenskan. On their website, the police say that personnel from the national bomb squad have been called to the scene.
