One of the most important things in the labor market report is how to get more young people into work. Today, there are around 100,000 young people who are outside – meaning that there are neither in work nor in education. Some of the measures aimed at young people: Establish a trial with a new, work-oriented youth programme, where young people receive income security and where impaired health is not an entry condition. Try out a new four-year wage subsidy that will make it easier for employers to give disadvantaged young people a chance. Strengthen and improve the youth guarantee. Many outside On Tuesday, figures came from Statistics Norway (SSB) which showed that 18.4 per cent of the population of working age were outside work, education and labor market measures last year. This means that 622,000 people between the ages of 20 and 66 were out of work. – From 2022, we have seen an increase in the share outside of 0.4 percentage points. The proportion is nevertheless on a par with 2021 and lower than before the corona pandemic, says senior adviser Christoffer Berge at Statistics Norway. Among young people aged 20–24, 11.1 per cent are outside, while the figure is 13.4 per cent in the 25–29 age group. Published 06.09.2024, at 12.23 Updated 06.09.2024, at 12.30 p.m
