– It has been crushing – news Urix – Foreign news and documentaries

A bouncing kangaroo. A snake that meanders away. Rachael Gunn, with the b-girl name Raygun, from Australia clearly represented her home country when she participated in the Olympics in breaking. This was the first, and for the time being, the last time the dance style was included in the Olympics. The 36-year-old’s interpretation gave the branch more attention than it might otherwise have received. Perhaps, however, unwanted. – I’m glad I brought joy into their lives. That’s what I was hoping for. I didn’t understand that it would also open the door to so much hate, says Gunn on Thursday on Instagram. – Gave everything I had The internet has been flooded with memes and videos that make fun of Raygun’s dancing. She was ridiculed on Jimmy Fallon. Some have wondered how she even made it to the Olympics. Breakdancer Rachael Gunn is hitting back at criticism after her performance during the Paris Olympics. – Honestly, this has been quite crushing, says Gunn. This is the first time she has commented on the matter. – I worked my ass off to prepare for the Olympics, and I gave everything I had. Really, she continues. But the Olympics did not go Raygun’s way. Out of three rounds against three different challengers, each divided into two rounds, Raygun received no votes from the total of nine judges on the panel, shows the result overview for the Olympics. Among other things, Rachael Gunn had a duel with Logan Edra, B-girl Logistix, from the USA. Photo: Frank Franklin / AP Thus the Olympics were over for Raygun on 9 August. But a week of overwhelming attention was just about to start. “Disgusting” Among other things, a signature campaign has been created which claims that Gunn was selected for the Olympics through an unfair process. The petition was condemned by the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) in a statement. They emphasize that it is full of falsehoods and misinformation. Rachael Gunn stood on her hands during one of her performances. Photo: ODD ANDERSEN / AFP – It is a shame that the signature campaign has fueled hatred without any factual basis whatsoever. It is disgusting, they point out and continue: – No athlete who has represented their country in the Olympic Games should be treated in this way. In Norway, the breaking talent Daniel Grindeland had the goal of qualifying for this year’s Olympics. But it didn’t work this time. He believes Raygun has received an overwhelming amount of negative attention. – When you are in the Olympics, you have to put up with criticism. But there has been an extreme amount, says Grindeland to news. He believes the level of the rest of the athletes was “sky high”. But this drowns in the focus on Rachael Gunn. – Everyone will take her because she did something people didn’t like, he points out. – Must remember that it is a human being Grindeland also points out that Gunn has qualified through championships in Oceania. But the breaking level there is not necessarily as high as in other parts of the world. And the breaking format, where one-on-one performers do a solo dance, makes the difference in level even more visible. The women’s breaking gold went to Ami Yuasa of Japan, known as B-girl Ami (centre). Silver went to Dominika Banevic, known as B-girl-Nicka, from Lithuania. Bronze went to Chinese Qingyi Liu, B-girl 671. Photo: Frank Franklin / AP – She becomes the focus in the solos she has, as opposed to, for example, running or skiing, says Grindeland. – Then we have to remember that there is a person here. She did her best only to get crap from the whole world. The women’s breaking gold was secured by Ami Yuasa from Japan. The men’s gold went to Phil Wizard from Canada. Rachael Dunn and Jeff Dunne, J Attack, both represented Australia at the Olympics. There was no medal at Dunne either. Photo: JAIMI JOY / Reuters The Raygun controversy is not the only one that has characterized the Olympics this year. Women’s boxing also found itself at the center of a storm. Recently, the news came that the Algerian boxer Imane Khelif is suing several well-known names, including Elon Musk and JK Rowling, after incitement. Interested in foreign affairs?
