The fatal accident happened in the center of Kongsberg on Wednesday morning. Witnesses told the police that the woman was hit by a truck, which later drove away from the scene. Based on the witness descriptions, the police later stopped a lorry driver in his 70s. When he was stopped, he was told what had happened. The man said that he drove in the area, but that he was not aware that he had been involved in the accident. – He tells us that he did not notice that he ran into her, says investigation manager Jarle Lindeland. Charged with negligent driving The man has nevertheless been charged with negligent driving, and has been temporarily deprived of his driving licence. – The fatal accident is a priority matter that is investigated quickly, says Lindeland. The police will now interview several witnesses to clarify the course of events. The man who has been charged drove a 10-metre-long truck.
