Facial recognition The digital ID card can be found on the Bank-ID app on your phone, and is activated using your passport or national ID card. This ID card is activated with facial recognition. Digital identification makes life easier, faster and safer for everyone, says Mads Pedersen, product manager for identification and other useful services in the BankID app. According to the company, 370,000 people in Norway have activated the ID card in their BankID app. This ID card can now be used at Vinmonopolet, Posten, Øyafestivalen and in the city where PSS Securitas is responsible for age control. 4,000 caught for fake medicine During 2023, over 4,000 people were caught for using counterfeit or borrowed medicine, and many of these were reported to the police, according to PSS Securitas. – With digital identification, there will be fewer attempts at cheating. There are many people who do not know that it is a criminal offense to forge, borrow or lend medicine. We are looking forward to everyone getting used to their mobile phones, so that reports of forged documents can approach zero, says Næsheim. It’s easy to forget your phone when you’re going out on the town, so you usually have your mobile phone with you. I think people will find it positive, says Veronica Baltzersen. – Have you forgotten to play before? – No, actually never, but I have seen friends forget to play. There may be a bit of a crisis here and there, says Karoline Rosenlund. But they think it is best if it is an alternative to regular identification, and not a replacement. – It is important that you can still use ordinary ID such as a driver’s license and national ID card, but this is fine as an addition to what already exists, says Rosenlund.
