Anders Mol and Christian Sørum occasionally held a playroom when they secured the bronze medal in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. They did it masterfully and secured Olympic bronze after two very strong sets. They did so with Jonas Gahr Støre, Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Crown Prince Håkon in the stands. There were three gold and two bronze medals in the end during Saturday. – It was historic and cool. It’s not every day Tore (Øvrebø) gets it in the bank, says Anders Mol’s father and coach Kåre Mol to news. It turns out that Norway has won so many medals that he has to count out loud to realize how many medals there are. – There are so many that we can’t keep count, says Mol and smiles. So it was during the Olympics in Antwerp in 1920, which few people remember. It happens after the handball women, Solfrid Koanda and Jakob Ingebrigtsen secured gold. Before the beach volleyball duo secured a medal, Grace Bullen had done the same in wrestling. Kåre Mol says that the beach volleyball duo followed the other Norwegian achievements. They had Ingebrigtsen and Koanda on the screen on the way to the stadium. – We saw Jakob during the warm-up. We had it on the PC here, and it was a superb run. We are incredibly happy about that, and about the gold in weightlifting, which was brilliant. He continues: – It is very inspiring to look at other fantastically good Norwegian athletes. The Norwegian duo is proud to contribute to Norwegian Day of Rejoicing. – It is an absolutely magical Olympic day. We have been following along all day and have been inspired. At the end of the warm-up, we saw Jakob win the gold, and heard after the match that Grace also won the bronze. What a day for Norwegian sport. Incredibly proud to be a part of it. Everyone performs well in many different sports and disciplines where we fight for the best, says Ingebrigtsen to news about the Norwegian Golden Day. – You bow to the crown prince couple. How do you feel about nationalism? – It is absolutely fantastic with the support we get from the Norwegian people. And I think it has been a fantastic day for Norway in general today. She secured the medal in wrestling after only 57 seconds. – An incredible number of medals and I am very happy to be part of the Norwegian squad. At the camp here, there has been a good group of people who have cheered each other on. I see across the sports how much it means to each individual who takes part in this, says Bullen to news. The Olympic top had a goal before the Games to win eight medals. Now the Norwegian squad has just collected eight medals. Top sports manager in the Olympiatoppen, Tore Øvrebø, is very satisfied with the day of jubilation. – This has been absolutely fantastic. From early morning to late evening, things have gone Norwegian athletes’ way and they have really reached their potential. It’s really great to be involved, says Øvrebø to news. Bad atmosphere After a steady start with some mistakes, the Norwegian duo got into a good groove. Mol was in great form and both blocked and secured a number of points. Then there was a rather bad atmosphere between the Qatari athletes and they seemed frustrated at being almost ravaged with. – Ahmed and Cherif are frustrated now. As a result, they have not been able to participate in as many tournaments as they wanted. They already have an Olympic gold from Tokyo.
