The talent offer will give three to five interns basic knowledge in journalistic storytelling and publishing online, radio and TV. – The talents will help news better reflect the entire population through its journalism, increase leadership competence in diversity and contribute to news becoming an even more attractive workplace with a focus on a wider diversity, says director of organization at news, Olav Hypher. The plan is based on news’s diversity vision: “Together we create a Norway where everyone belongs”. One of the concrete measures in the diversity vision is to strengthen diversity by recruiting and developing employees with inherent diversity expertise. Through the training programme, the participants will have a unique, educational and fun opportunity to develop into competent journalists and media producers. The initiative aims to strengthen the participants’ opportunities on the labor market in general and help to increase the proportion of people with disabilities in the media industry in particular. The training program has been added to Kristiansand and the district office of news Sørlandet. – We at news Sørlandet are well prepared and equipped to receive the interns. We are looking forward to getting started, and hope the offer will be attractive to applicants from all over the country. We will do our best to facilitate where there is a need for it, says district editor Inger-Lise Hansen. The training program is planned to be carried out as a ten-month training course. First with five months of initial training at news Sørlandet, and then five months of practice in another news newsroom. In the first instance, news is carrying out this as a trial project which will form the basis for a permanent practice scheme for people with disabilities, in the same way as news’s other training programs such as news Flere, news Nynorsk media center and Sami talent programme.
