Iuel consoled competitor after Olympic exit – Olympic Paris 2024

Amalie Iuel came fifth in her semi-final heat in the 400 meter hurdles, and is thus out of the hurdles competition of the Olympics. She can thus focus on the 4×400 meter relay later in the Games. In the semi-final, Iuel opened cautiously, and on the run-up side she needed to catch up with several of the competitors in order to reach the final. She managed to pass one of them, Lina Nielsen, as the British rival fell at the final hurdle. But fifth place in a time of 54.88 was not enough to progress. After the finish, Iuel went straight to his rival. She gave her a hug, and held her around. – I know how it feels to not succeed when it matters most, like in my last Olympics. Then I made a false start. It’s incredibly boring to do that in the big arena here and she had a great race and it would have been a really good time for her too. When she trips and falls, it’s no fun. – I just thought that she needed a little hug, not that there is any plaster on the wound. – I got real sympathy. Iuel doesn’t remember what she said to the competitor, but she was keen to show compassion. – How concerned are you that others around you should be well? – I think it is important to spread a good atmosphere in the group you are in. I am a big fan of a good community. I think that it can bring out the best in anyone, and that success can be contagious. Alnes: – Quite extremely, Iuel has delivered two runs up against his career best during the Olympic days. It also impresses coach Leif Olav Alnes. – I think it is absolutely brilliant. She tried hard, and ran in about the same time (as in the trial heat). It’s tough to run two max races so close, but she handled it brilliantly, says trainer Leif Olav Alnes. Iuel was third in Sunday’s attempt with a time of 54.82, Iuel’s fastest run this season. It is less than a year since Iuel became the mother of little Storm. The way she has bounced back after giving birth impresses the trainer. – I think it is quite extreme. There were quite a few complications around that, so I am very proud of Amalie, he says. Iuel tried to enjoy the moment of being in the Olympic semi-finals less than a year after becoming a mother. Still, the nerves came. – I can say that it has not been the best charge, overall. With pregnancy and caesarean section, but it has made it even cooler to stand here, she says. Just behind the personal record Iuel set his personal record with 54.68 during the WC in Eugene two years ago. Last season she did not compete, but was pregnant during the summer before becoming a mother at the beginning of September. During the EC earlier this summer, she failed in the trial heat, but for the Olympics she has again managed to get in shape. She progressed from the trial heat, and thus got to run in the semifinals of the Games.
