TIL further in the European qualifiers – news Troms and Finnmark

Tromsø has overcome the first obstacle on the road to the Serie Liga. With 2–0 on aggregate, TIL is on course for further progress in the European qualifiers. Scottish or Belgian opposition await all next week. Finnish scare Apart from a shot on the crossbar and some qualified saves from TIL’s last defender Haugaard, the team from Kuopio in Finland was not too great an obstacle for the team from Tromsø. After half an hour played, TIL went into the lead. TIL rolled up nicely. Jakob Napoleon Romsaas forced his way through the middle, before playing beautifully over the Finns’ defense to Hjertø Dahl who went on a sucking run. The midfielder had no problems alone with the goalkeeper and put it controlled into the corner. Early penalty kick Already after just under two minutes played, TIL got a penalty kick, after Lasse Nordås was fouled. The forward took it himself, but put it at goalkeeper height and the goalkeeper was able to beat it to a corner. KuPS played a good part in the game, but did not create many chances, and after Tromsø’s leading goal there was never much cause for concern in terms of advancement, even though Matias Siltanen came close to scoring with a crossbar hit. Tromsø captain Ruben Yttergård Jenssen had to leave at half-time due to illness, but the team managed well even without him. The European road With a 1-0 win both away and at home, TIL meets either Belgian Cercle Brugge or Scottish Kilmaenock. The next qualifying round will be played on 8 and 15 August. If TIL advances from both rounds, a playoff will be played over two games, and if they make it through the group stage in the Serieligaen.
