Artist Ellie Goulding found “her” tracked vehicle at Tyin in Valdres – walked through the ice in 2016 – news Innlandet – Local news, TV and radio

– It was close to where we thought it must be, but it was nice to find it, says sports diver Kjell Eirik Henanger. In 2022, the group of friends, who dive on a voluntary basis, were at Tyin for the first time. Then they did not succeed in winning the tracked vehicle. But over the weekend, the tracked carriage that fell through the ice in 2016, carrying the artist Ellie Goulding, her photographer and others, was rediscovered. Here, sports divers dive into the water. Photo: Kjell Eirik Henanger / Livesportphoto The British artist posted several photos from his visit to Norway in 2016, in Vang in Valdres. She had her regular photographer Conor McDonnell with her. On Instagram, he said that the winter holiday didn’t go quite as expected, when the crawler they were taking over a frozen lake went through the water. “That moment when you are in minus 25 degrees in the middle of nowhere in Norway in pitch darkness, the tracked vehicle breaks through the ice in the middle of a lake and you have to evacuate through the roof,” wrote McDonnell. This is what Ellie Goulding’s photographer wrote on Instagram after the incident. Photo: Screenshot Instagram Conor Mcdonell – It became a bit like a treasure hunt and a mystery, says Henanger about looking for the tracked vehicle. By scanning the bottom and comparing the photo from the photographer McDonell, they eventually found the cart. – But it was difficult to find, because there are a lot of boulders that are the same size as the tracked vehicle. Will raise it from the depths The belt trolley is located at a depth of approximately 30 metres, Henanger estimates. – Now it is not as deep as feared on some of the surveys that others have done there, so I hope and believe that it will be quite easy to get it out of the water. This group of friends found the crawler on Saturday. From left: Øyvind Dolvik, Thomas Eriksson, Daniel Kristensen, Kjell Eirik Henanger and Stig Tuastad. Photo: Private Asgrim Opdal, is the leader of the three landowners in Tyin. He is satisfied that the tracked vehicle has finally been found. – I want the crawler to be raised and taken out of the water. Of course, the Tyinvannet is very, and we can perhaps discuss how great the danger of pollution is. Ola Moe is the former owner of the hotel Eidsbugarden in Jotunheimen, and the owner of the tracked trolley. He says in an SMS that he is glad the cart has been found and that they want to raise it, since it represents a financial value. The damage was not covered by insurance. Photo: Kjell Eirik Henanger Often does not recommend lifting up But lifting it up might not be so wise after all. Researcher Morten Jartun at the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) writes in an e-mail to news that there may be a risk of contamination by lifting it up from the water. – During all such operations, there is a risk of oil and battery acid leaking out. That can be unfortunate in a vulnerable mountain lake like Tyin. He says that it is possible to take measures when lifting that limits risk, and companies that deal with this can have more insight into such details. But he says it is often recommended to leave such things alone. Morten Jartun is a researcher at the Norwegian Institute for Water Research. Here from a previous occasion. Photo: Viktoria Hellem-Hansen / news – Since a tracked vehicle in itself, where it is at rest, will not cause any significant pollution. At the same time, you don’t want to have “waste” lying around. – When the danger of pollution is greater with a rise, then local authorities must decide how much aesthetics and “the thought that there is a foreign element in our mountain water” should weigh, he writes further. Mayor Jørand Ødegård Lunde for Bygdalista in Vang writes in an SMS to news that she believes it is a case with many sides and therefore it is not possible to conclude anything now. – It is good that the cart is located, she writes further. This is what it looked like when the divers carried out investigations in 2022. Photo: Kjell Eirik Henanger Was investigated by the police, but dismissed Owner Ola Moe writes in an SMS that he believes those who used the cart did not do what they were supposed to. – They were allowed to borrow the car for what was stated to be a photoshoot around where it was parked, not to drive in on an unsafe mountain lake, says Moe. news wrote in 2016 that a police case was opened on the belt car trip. The case was investigated and settled. – A report was made in the case and witnesses and suspects in the case were questioned. The case was prosecuted by a lawyer and dropped due to the state of the evidence, says acting police station chief in Fagernes, Bård Sørumshaugen to news. The police do not want to comment on who was questioned in the case. Ellie Goulding at the Oscars in March this year. In an interview with VG in 2016, the artist said that she was a little scared after the incident. – We thought it would never happen, simply sinking into an icy lake, she told the newspaper.
