Sentenced to custody for domestic service murder in Strömstad – news Østfold – Local news, TV and radio

A temporary home care worker in Strömstad has been sentenced to custody for killing a 94-year-old patient in need of care. In the verdict, it appears that the substitute wrapped plastic foil around the 94-year-old’s face, so that she could not breathe. He filmed the murder and later forwarded the video to acquaintances. The substitute denied guilt in court for murder, but admitted to having suffocated the 94-year-old patient with the plastic wrap. The woman was found dead in her apartment at the beginning of November last year. The doctor then concluded that she died of natural causes. She was therefore cremated before the police started a murder investigation later that month. – Love that I filmed what news has previously mentioned that the substitute sent the murder video to a friend. About half an hour after the video was sent, he wrote that he loved filming it. 7.30pm Defendant: I love that I filmed it ❤️ 7.36pm Woman: Yes, I understand that! 😈❤️ The text messages above are a reconstruction of messages sent between the defendant and one of his girlfriends. The messages have been translated from Swedish to Norwegian. Revealed by group chat The temporary worker and the friend were both active in a group conversation on Messenger. The group has around 20 members from all over Sweden, who play the video game Fortnite together. It was members from this group who alerted the police when they heard about the video. Since the police became aware of the video after the 94-year-old had been cremated, they never got to examine the body. The court nevertheless believes that there is no doubt that the substitute killed the patient. He is linked to the crime scene through the video of the murder, teledata, the GPS on the work car and the log on the door lock. “Life imprisonment” Sweden’s answer to the Norwegian custodial sentence is called “life imprisonment”. It is an indeterminate sentence, which means that the sentence does not have a maximum length. When at least ten years of the sentence have been served, the convicted person can apply to have the sentence converted into a fixed-term sentence. If it is granted, the sentence cannot be shorter than 18 years’ imprisonment, according to the Swedish Correctional Service. Published 30.07.2024, at 11.30 Updated 30.07.2024, at 11.55
