The comrades have organized motorcades before. The purpose is to show support to the deceased’s relatives during a difficult time. – We do this for family and friends. They don’t have the capacity for this themselves, and this event came upon them very suddenly, says Simen Gjerstad. When Edvin Heen died last week, he became the third MC driver from Indre Østfold to lose his life during the last few months. Simen Gjerstad says that all the accidents have left a deep mark on the motor community in Indre Østfold. – It affects us very hard. I think more people will become aware in the future. – You don’t have much to worry about if you crash with a motorbike, Gjerstad continues. The group of friends says that the community has a strong sense of unity. At Sunday’s motorcade, approximately 100 people and 60 cars turned up at the scene of the accident. – The car community is very united and we support each other when something happens, explains Tony Jakobsen. The number has increased by 58 per cent in the last 23 years. Bård Morten Johansen, subject manager at Trygg Trafikk. Photo: Erland Knutsen / news – Lett MC is popular among young people. Unfortunately, we see that the number of people who die or are seriously injured on this vehicle is increasing, says Bård Morten Johansen, Head of Department at Trygg Trafikk. Johansen in Trygg Trafikk hopes parents now think carefully about what young people can handle before they drive off. – It is wrong to think that this is a somewhat advanced moped. On the contrary, we know that the risk is five times as high for being seriously injured as on a moped, says Johansen in Trygg Trafikk. Edvin is remembered as a considerate boy Tony Jakobsen has known Edvin Heen since primary school. He says that the 19-year-old has made a deep impression on many people. – He was very kind and always cared about those around him. – He was kind-hearted, kind and considerate. He was a fun kid to be with. We will miss him very much, says Simen Gjerstad. Heen also left his mark outside the car community. For two years he was a student at Tomb agricultural school. – We remember him as an open, open-minded and smiling boy. Our village is small, the school is small and the students stay with us for a few years. We manage to get to know each other well, so this affects us, says principal Morten Thomassen.
