Today you get paid for using straum – news Rogaland – Local news, TV and radio

Today we have the second lowest electricity price ever, and the lowest so far this year. From 10 o’clock the electricity was free, and: – You get paid for using electricity between two and three o’clock today, says Lyse’s communications manager, Atle Simonsen. Then the price will be minus 72.76 øre. Atle Simonsen says that the free hours will not amount to large sums, but if you fully charge the electric car in that hour, you can earn NOK 5-10. That means the whole of Rogaland, Agder, Vestfold and Telemark, Buskerud, Oslo, Akershus, Østfold, Innlandet, and parts of Hordaland. – So it actually applies to the whole of South-West Norway and Eastern Norway at that time, says Simonsen. Paid consumption Simonsen explains that in this one hour there are 70 øre in minus prices, and online rent and fees are approx. 50 cents. – So that means you get 20 øre per kilowatt in payment for using electricity. Today, you actually spend money on spending, he says. It may not be very much, but it is still beneficial for the consumer. – It is quite unusual that there is an hour where you get paid so well for actually using electricity. It’s quite rare, says Alf-Henning Drage, who runs his own website where he collects information and informs people about electricity prices. It has only been lower once before: 16 July last year. The Netherlands and Germany produce too much electricity via solar and wind. It affects Norway. Photo: Lars Tore Endresen / news The reason for the record low electricity prices is a surplus of electricity. Simonsen in Lyse says there is an abundance of wind power and solar power from the Netherlands and Germany, and because Norway is connected to these countries with foreign cables, it affects us. Summer holidays and weekends also do their part, as consumption is low. There may be more of this in the future. Save electricity for the winter – There will be more of this, so this type of situation can happen again, says Simonsen. He says that it means that we can save on water power for the winter because we avoid using our own water power on days like this. Hydropower can be switched off, unlike solar and wind power. Photo: Kristian Skårdalsmo – Two years ago, negative prices were completely unknown, says Simonsen. But even if it is positive for the consumer today, he says that it is not a good sign for the system to produce too much current. Charge the car Even if the one hour today won’t amount to millions, you can still save a few kroner: – If you charge the electric car today in the five cheapest hours, instead of the five most expensive, you will save approx. 50 kroner. So it’s not a lot in one day, but it’s money, says Drage. Today, all you have to do is charge the electric car. Photo: Simon Skjelvik Brandseth / news Putting on a sink or two during the day can also be beneficial, but otherwise Simonsen tells Lyse that it is mostly to use electricity as usual, but: – It will be a good day to charge the electric car if you have it, he concludes.
